happy 2017 everyone. i hope you all had a lovely holiday season.
just like that, 2016 is over. although 2016 was a harsh year, it has definitelytaught me a lot of life lessons and lessons about my self which i’m grateful for….
to start the year off on napps & sass, today i’ll be discussing a few items that have become staple products on my vanity. about a month ago i stopped in sephora to try out some new items that i know have been talked about a lot in the beauty community…
starting off with primers, i know the makeup forever primers comes highly recommended so i picked up the MUFE step 1 smoothing primer. i decided to try the travel size as i wasn’t sure if i would like the product or not. i can honestly say that i love it so far. it does live up to it’s name as it gives you such a smooth, even canvas with which to work with. it doesn’t break me out which is a huge plus and it keeps my makeup looking well put together throughout it’s wear.
next is probably my favorite product of the bunch which is the herbivore rose hibiscus coconut water hydrating face mist. i’m literally obsessed with this stuff. it smells AMAZING and is truly hydrating. from the looks of my photos it seems as though i haven’t even started using it but believe me when i tell you, i spray it every chance i get. the mist is so fine and comfortable. i hate when i use face mists and i feel like i’m drowning as i spiritz my face. just as a reference the mist is even finer than mac’s prep & prime which is a long time favorite of mine. i know we’re still in the winter season, but honestly, i’ve been using it non stop. it has definitely taken over my caudalie mist for sure!
on the foundation front, bobbi brown’s skin foundation stick in almond has been my go to medium -full coverage foundation lately. i was worried that it would be a bit too drying on the skin but it is very creamy and stays put throughout the day. speaking of bobbi brown, can i just say that i love the fact that her cosmetic range is here for women of color!! i had so many darker shades to choose from when i was looking through this foundation which you do not see often.
i don’t know why i’m so late to the laura mercier translucent setting powder party but i’m so glad i joined. i now see why this powder is so hyped up across the beauty community. it performs amazing and sets the under eye area flawlessly. its the most finely milled loose powder i’ve ever worked with and although it was a little intimidating at first, i have been thoroughly enjoying this as an under eye setting powder.
last but not least is another MUFE product. again, before this i was late to the entire MUFE brand party and i’m not sure why. one of my fav. youtubers amanda ensing has always raved about the MUFE eye artist shadows and although i’ve low key kept them on my lust list, i’ve never tried them out. idk why i waited so long because these are so good! i know $21 is a bit much for a single eye shadow but the pans are so huge and the quality of the shadows are fantastic. i chose to build a custom trio ($44) which comprises of three neutral matte shades (m608 – red brown, m656 – chestnut & m738 – auburn). i’m already planning on building another trio in due time with of some of their shimmer shades because overall these shadows are so easy to blend, has amazing longevity and are very pigmented.
what new products have you been trying out lately? please share as i love to hear about products that my follow beauty lovers have been appreciating
here’s to a wonderful year
